Why A2?

Why are we serving with Asian Access?

We love its family ethos and its expansive vision for Asia.

Background Info:

Happily married since August 1999, we were living and working in Los Angeles, California (Bobby as an attorney and Claire as a primary school teacher) before God called us to Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (Massachusetts) in the fall of 2001 to receive further training. In seminary, God used Asian Access to call us to serve as church planting associates with Asian Access.

Ministry Assignment

Church Planting Associates assigned to serve in the Kansai network. They have been with Asian Access since 2005.

Words of wisdom:

In addition to seeking the Lord daily in prayer and in His Word, talk to and learn from as many missionaries as you can. As they share their experiences and lessons with you, God may quicken your heart in a certain direction. Also, if you can, spend extended time in a cross-cultural setting and learn and discern by doing.

Funny missionary story...

Bobby was getting a hair cut by a Japanese man in Los Angeles. Eager to practice some phrases he had been learning, he said with confidence: "excuse me." The man was puzzled. Claire giggled. Then Bobby realized that "SUSHI-masen" is not the same as the correct word, "SUMI-masen."

We'd like to network with people interested in...

Theological education or music ministry.

Ways God has blessed our life and ministry:

God has used our time of support raising to deepen our relationships (and create new ones) and also to grow in our trust and dependence upon God. God has also been blessing our efforts to memorize His Word and cling to His promises, purposes, and presence in our lives.

Some of our hopes for the future:

We pray and hope that God would draw Japanese men and women and children to Himself. Toward that end, we hope to gain proficiency in the Japanese language and familiarity with its culture so we can build meaningful relationships with people.
